Two Cheshire High School students now have the title “ambassador” added to their impressive list of credentials. Kaelyn Fitzgerald and Emma Sink have joined senior Kali Hersh as representatives from all Cheshire schools on the board of the Cheshire Education Foundation.

Kali is in her second year as an ambassador. She is currently applying to universities with plans to study microbiology and work toward her goal of becoming a medical doctor. Kali says working with the education foundation has allowed her to share her opinions and “say what my peers would be open to saying about our school.”

Kaelyn Fitzgerald is also a senior at CHS where she started a club called, She Drive which focuses on relieving period poverty for underserved women and women in crisis. What started as a group of four girls has grown into a club of over 150 students.

Emma Sink is a junior this year. She is an A-Team Ambassador, helping lead freshman orientation and other various tours at the high school. Emma is a member of blood drive club, unified sports, Rampage student newspaper, and unified theater. Both Emma and Kaelyn are active in the Best Buddies program, serving students with disabilities.

The Cheshire Education Foundation has invited student ambassadors to join each board meeting since the 2019-2020 school year. These representatives are recommended by teachers and presented to CEF board members by Superintendent Dr. Jeff Solan.

“These students have the opportunity to learn and experience how nonprofit organizations operate as they participate in every area of our operations,” said CEF board president Derek Gromko. “Our board values the ambassadors’ input and perspective on how the enhanced learning initiatives funded by the Cheshire Education Foundation impact their peers,” he added.
